Application rules:

The 73rd ARD International Music Competition 2024 in Munich is open for the following categories:

Wind Quintet
Voice
Oboe
Violoncello

The invitation to participate in this competition is extended to young musicians, who are ready to launch an international career.

The competition is open to musicians of all nations:

for voice born between 1992 and 2004
for the categories oboe and violoncello born between 1995 and 2007
for the category wind quintet: total age maximum 150; single members neither younger than 17 nor older than 35 (on March 28, 2024).
The competition will be conducted during the period from September 3 to 20, 2024 (including the prizewinners’ concerts).
All auditions are open to the public.

Deadline for registration: March 28, 2024

The following documents must be enclosed:

-application form
-copy of passport or identity card
-artistic curriculum vitae in continuous text (printable) -portrait photograph (jpg file) of the applicant, which will be published – black & white or color (without copyright).
-in case of students: approval of the teacher
-digital VIDEO recording:
mp4 oder mov-Datei, max. 900 MB
The music in the video recording may not be edited, may not be processed and may not be older than one year (the works required for the preselection can be found in the repertoire conditions).
-declaration form signed by the recording studio/engineer – form download at www.ard-musikwettbewerb.de
-proof of payment of the registration fee in the amount of € 60.

Two arias or one aria and an art song of the participant’s choice. Both works may be repeated in the Competition.

First round (with piano accompaniment)

Two pieces to be freely chosen. They must contain one aria or one song by W. A. Mozart and an operatic or oratorio aria from the romantic era.

Second round (with piano accompaniment; max. 20 min.)

Two art songs, one of them by Franz Schubert and one from the 20th century
Two operatic or oratorio arias

Semifinal with the Munich Radio Orchestra
