Application:

The Competition is open to pianists of all nationalities who were born before 9 May 2007 and after 9 May 1995.

The online application deadline is 1 November 2024. Applications must be made online, using the Acceptd platform. Applications will open on 1 August 2024. Irish Competitors for DIPC 2025  should apply on the Acceptd platform. Live (in person) audition for Irish Competitors will take place on Friday, December 20th 2024 in the Whyte Hall, Royal Irish Academy of Music, 36-38 Westland Row, Dublin D03 WY89. The programme for the Irish round can include repertoire from the later Competition Rounds. The application deadline for the Irish Round will be November 1 2024.

Test pieces must be played from memory, with the exception of the specially commissioned compulsory piece which is to be performed in the quarter-finals and the chamber work which is to be performed in the semi-finals.

The order of the performances will be determined by ballot.

Competitors who are not available to perform when called upon to do so by the Jury may be disqualified.

The decisions of the Jury will be final and beyond appeal.

The Jury may award or withhold any prize as deemed fit.

The First Prize cannot be tied.

Rights to any Competition performance whether broadcast, televised, recorded or filmed belong to the Competition. No fee is payable on account of these performances or any recordings, broadcasts or transmissions of them.

A maximum of sixty-five competitors will be admitted to the online First Round.
A maximum of twenty-eight competitors will be admitted to the Quarter-Finals.
Eight competitors will be admitted to the Semi-Finals.
Three competitors will be admitted to the Concerto Final.
The Jury reserves the right to alter these numbers at its discretion.
The Repertoire must have been written for solo piano (with the exception of the piano quintet in the semi-finals) and no alteration to the piano may take place. Strict adherence to time limits must be observed, and no piece may be played twice in the four rounds of the Competition.  Works must be performed in their entirety; individual movements are not permitted.
Competitors who are accepted into the Quarter-finals will be responsible for their own visa and other entry requirements.
Accommodation with host families is offered to competitors for the duration of their participation in the Competition in May. Eliminated competitors wishing to remain in Dublin will be responsible for their own accommodation. The Competition can also provide a list of hotels in Dublin if preferred.
Competitors are responsible for their own travelling expenses.
Practice pianos will be available in Dublin during the Competition.
