In times of terrible ordeals, it gives consolation, belief, hope, and power. That’s why we made our mind to organize a live broadcast to Ukraine, where OPEN OPERA UKRAINE has set up a public viewing, so that our Ukrainian friends could join the event, which is broadcast live from Austria. The recording and broadcast will be done by the Pedagogic Department of the University of Music in Graz, where Jörg Zwicker teaches.

Russia wants to destroy the Ukrainian culture and identity. That’s why we decided to support the special cultural project and forward the raised money to the Ukrainian Ministry of Culture to support the reconstruction of the bombed House of Culture in Irpin.

All musicians and singers are going to take part in that project without any fee, although they had no opportunity to earn anything with their performances for around two years. Some Ukrainian musicians will also play in the orchestra. The rehearsals of the choir will be supported by an Ukrainian pianist. So, we continue our big partnership with our friends of Ukraine in different fields.”

* * *

Jörg Zwicker, born in 1969, studied violoncello with Hildgund Posch at the University of Graz and Viola da gamba with José Vazquez at the University of Vienna.
