She graduated from the Estonian Academy of Music and Theater (EAMT) with two degrees in music pedagogy\/choral conducting (class of Professor Artur Vahter) and opera singing (class of Associate Professor Rostislav Gurjev). She continued her studies as an opera singer at the Helsinki Sibelius Academy (class of Professor Mirja Klemi) and then at the London Guildhall School of Music and Drama (class of Professor Johanna Peters). She defended her master&#8217;s thesis at the Helsinki Sibelius Academy (2003, class of Professor Liisa Linko-Malmi\u00f6).<\/p>\n<p>In 2004-2011, she perfected her skills at the EAMT doctoral program (class of Professor Jaakko Ryh\u00e4nen), and in 2005-2006 she studied German chamber music repertoire at the University of Music Karlsruhe (class of Professors Hartmuth H\u00f6ll and Mitsuko Shirai).<\/p>\n<p>She has taken part of several master classes by world-famous distinguished musicians \u2013 Elisabeth S\u00f6derstr\u00f6m, Irwin Gage, Emma Kirkby, Mauriz Sillem, Gerhard Kahry, Eva M\u00e4rtson-Wilson, Andre Orlowitz, Wilma Vernocchi, and Gundula Hinz.<\/p>\n<p>Pille Lill was a vocal teacher in the Voice Department of EAMT from 1997 to 2003, she instructed master\u2019s level students in German lied class (2007-2013) and directed EAMT&#8217;s opera studio (2004-2005). Working with opera singers, Pille continues her work as a vocal coach to this day.<\/p>\n<p>She has given master classes in Estonia, Germany, Finland, Belarus, Latvia, Israel, and Italy. Many of her students either worked or work at the Estonian National Opera and Latvian National Opera.<\/p>\n<p>She has been a part of the jury of the Estonian National Vocal Contest (2009, 2013, 2017, and 2022), Jerusalem Young Artist Opera Festival Competition (2018), and T.O.S.C.A Opera Singers Competition in Italy (2018, 2022, and 2024).<\/p>\n<p>Pille Lill is the founder and artistic director of the PLMF Music Trust since 2003. The goal of the organization is to support talented musicians by offering further education and performing opportunities on various stages in Estonia and abroad. PLMF develops cross-border cooperation through participation in the International Artist Managers\u2019 Association (IAMA), European Festivals\u2019 Association (EFA), and International Society for the Performing Arts (ISPA).<\/p>\n<p>PLMF is the organizer of four festivals \u2013 Tallinn Chamber Music Festival (including every-year prizes for the musicians), Tallinn Winter Festival, Eivere Piano Festival (with a summer school for pianists), V\u00e4ike-Maarja Music Festival (including the National Vocal Contest, which is dedicated to the early deceased outstanding tenor Vello J\u00fcrna). In addition, PLMF has been organizing Rapla Church Music Festival since 2010, which features the International Rapla Summer Academy for singers.<\/p>\n<p>The singer is a board member of the Estonian Chamber of Culture since 2015. She was also and the Association of Estonian Professional Musicians.<\/p>\n<p>Pille Lill has performed as an opera, oratorio and chamber music singer in numerous countries. She has sung lead roles in nearly 30 operas by Mozart (Donna Anna in &#8220;Don Giovanni&#8221;, Pamina in &#8220;Magic Flute&#8221;), Puccini (Mimi in &#8220;La Boh\u00e9me&#8221;, Cio-cio san in &#8220;Madama Butterfly&#8221;, Tosca in &#8220;Tosca&#8221;), Verdi (Elisabeth in &#8220;Don Carlos&#8221;, Desdemona in &#8220;Othello&#8221;, Violetta in &#8220;Traviata&#8221;, Elvira in &#8220;Ernani&#8221;, Amelia in &#8220;Un ballo in maschera&#8221;, Lady Macbeth in &#8220;Macbeth&#8221;, and Aida &#8220;Aida&#8221;), Weber (Agathe in &#8220;Der Freisch\u00fctz&#8221;), Wagner (Venus in &#8220;Tannh\u00e4user&#8221;), Mascagni (Santuzza in &#8220;Cavalleria Rusticana&#8221;), Strauss (Chrysothemis in &#8220;Elektra&#8221;), and Tubin (Barbara in &#8220;Barbara von Tisenhusen&#8221;). Her repertory includes soprano parts from such grand musical pieces by Mahler (the 4th and 8th Symphonies), Mozart (&#8220;Requiem&#8221;), Brahms (&#8220;Requiem&#8221;), Verdi (&#8220;Requiem&#8221;), Beethoven &#8211; (the 9th Symphony), Tobias (&#8220;Des Jona Sendung&#8221;), Sibelius &#8211; (the &#8220;Kullervo\u201d Symphony), and Shostakovich (the 14th Symphony).<\/p>\n<p>She has premiered works by many contemporary composers, including Lepo Sumera, P\u00f5ldm\u00e4e, Kaumann, Pertmann, Pozdejev, Andersson, and Reinvere.<br \/>\nPille Lill has cooperated with many distinguished conductors, such as Gennady Rozhdestvensky, Carlo Felice Cillario, Neeme J\u00e4rvi, Eri Klas, Carlos Miguel Prieto, John Storg\u00e5rds, Gintaras Rinkevi\u010dius, Arvo Volmer, Mihkel K\u00fctson, J\u00fcri Alperten, Olari Elts, Andres Mustonen, Anu Tali, Paul M\u00e4gi, Lauri Sirp, and Risto Joost.<\/p>\n<p>Her voice can be heard on numerous recordings for Estonian Public Broadcasting and on many CDs, including R. Tobias \u201cDes Jona Sendung\u201d (1995 Grammofon AB BIS; 2009 DVD, VAI), M. Sink &#8220;Christmas Songs&#8221; (PLMF 2006), L. Sumera \u201cTo Reach Yesterday\u201d (Megadisc 2005), A. Kapp \u201cOrgan and Chamber Music\u201d (Eres 2000), J. Torrim \u201cOrgan Music\u201d (Antes 1997).<\/p>\n<p>* * *<\/p>\n<p>VERE MUSIC ACADEMY is a permanent master class program from VERE MUSIC FUND. It helps open Ukrainian performers\u2019 access to best educational practices that used to cost them a lot of time, effort and money. But now it is possible to get to master classes of world-famous teachers and musicians without leaving Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>* * *<\/p>\n<p>VERE MUSIC HUB is an artistic ecosystem and creative space designed for young musicians and listeners, established by the VERE MUSIC FUND. The hub features an upper hall with 100 seats, ideal for concerts, recordings, masterclasses, lectures, and more, as well as a lower rehearsal hall. It is located at 21\/8 Malopidvalna Street, Kyiv.<\/p>\n<p>VERE MUSIC FUND<br \/>\nFounded in 2017 by Tetiana Verevska, the VERE MUSIC FUND is a charitable organization that provides grants to Ukrainian musicians, enabling them to participate in international competitions and masterclasses.
