11TH INTERNATIONAL STANISŁAW MONIUSZKO VOCAL COMPETITION

The Competition will take place at the Teatr Wielki — Polish National Opera in Warsaw from 6 to 11 June 2022.

The Competition is organised by the Teatr Wielki — Polish National Opera.

II. Location and Schedule

1. The Schedule of the Competition is as follows:

  • 15 November 2021 – opening of applications
  • 15 February 2022 – deadline for applications
  • 25 March 2022 – announcement of the list of selected Candidates
  • 6 April 2022 – deadline for paying the registration fee
  • 14 April 2022 – draw and announcement of the order of auditions
  • 6-7 June 2022 – Stage 1
  • 8-9 June 2022 – Stage 2
  • 11 June 2022 – Stage 3 (Finals), results announcement, Awards Ceremony

The Competition will take place:
Stage 1 and 2 – in the Redutowe Rooms of the Teatr Wielki — Polish National Opera
Stage 3 (Finals) – in the Moniuszko Auditorium of the Teatr Wielki — Polish National Opera.

Eligibility

The Competition is open to singers of any nationality, resident anywhere in the world, and born not earlier than 6 June 1989 and not later than 6 June 2004.

The Programme of the Competition

1. The Competition consists of the following Stages:

a. Stage1 withpiano:

  • one opera aria from the 18th or 19th century,
  • one Polish song from the 19th, 20th or 21st century (sung in Polish or translation).

b. Stage 2 with piano:

  • one opera aria from the 18th or 19th century, other than the one performed in the Stage 1,
  • one opera aria from the 19th, 20th or 21st century, other than the one performed in the Stage 1,
  • one song from the world repertoire from the 19th, 20th or 21st century.

c. Stage3(Finals)with orchestra:

  • one Polish opera, oratorio or operetta aria (sung in Polish or translation),
  • one opera aria from the world repertoire, other than the ones performed in previous Stages.

VI. Awards

1. The following prizes shall be awarded by the Jury:

  • GRAND PRIX – 15 000 EURFemale voices:
  • 1st Prize – 10 000 EUR
  • 2nd Prize – 8 000 EUR
  • 3rd Prize – 6 000 EURMale voices:
  • 1st Prize – 10 000 EUR
  • 2nd Prize – 8 000 EUR
  • 3rd Prize – 6 000 EUR
  • The Prize for remaining finalists — 2 000 EUR each
  • The Maria Fołtyn Prize for the best performance of a Stanisław Moniuszko piece – 8 000 EUR
  • The Prize for the best pianist (born not earlier than 6 June 1987) – 2 000 EUR
  • The Prize for an outstanding pianist (born not earlier than 6 June 1987) – 1 500 EUR
  • Every Participant admitted to and performing in Stage 2 of the Competition but not admitted to Stage 3 (Finals) will be given 500 EUR by the Organiser. He/She will not be entitled to call him/herself a Prizewinner of the Competition.Exhibits:Exhibit 1: Application Form
