Master class by Olga Kulchynska (soprano)

The master class will be held from September 9 in VERE MUSIC HUB (Kyiv, 21/8 Malopidvalna str.). Classes are held without an audience, but students, teachers, and professional musicians are welcome to come and listen to their colleagues.

Olga Kulchynska will have an open meeting with students of Ukrainian music academies and colleges at 6 pm.

The list of active participants of the master class will be made public, and the schedule of classes will be sent to all registered participants 1-2 days before the master class.

The master class is part of the VERE MUSIC ACADEMY program.

Selection of active participants based on videos. The video must be recorded after September 1, 2024. Applications can be sent by September 5, 2025, to academy@vere.fund.

The musicians who will take an active part in the master class, as well as the schedule of classes, will be chosen by the mentor. We will announce this information 2-3 days before the master class.

Since winning the First Prize at the Francisco Viñas Vocal Competition in Barcelona in 2015, Olga Kulchynska has quickly established herself as one of the leading lyric sopranos of her generation. She frequently performs at the world’s leading opera houses, including the Metropolitan Opera, Opernhaus Zürich, Bayerische Staatsoper, Opéra National de Paris, and Gran Teatro del Liceu.

In the 2025/26 season, she will present a diverse range of roles at the most prestigious opera houses in Europe. These include the role of Fiordiligi in Mozart’s “All women do the same” at the Staatsoper Hamburg, Marguerite in Gounod’s “Faust”, and Blanche in Poulenc’s “Dialogues of the Carmelites” at the Wiener Staatsoper. In February, she is returning to the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich as Marguerite, after which she makes her debut as the Countess in a new production of “The Marriage of Figaro” at the Dutch National Opera.

Among the singers most recent major performances are her debut as Cleopatra in Handel’s opera “Julius Caesar in Egypt” at the 2025 Salzburg Festival, as well as her debut at London’s Royal Opera House in the roles of Micaela in the opera “Carmen” and Mimi in the opera “La Bohème”. At the Bayerische Staatsoper, Kulchynska made her debut in the roles of Fiordiligi in the opera “All women do the same” and Ilia in “Idomeneo” and reprised her roles as Pamina in “The Magic Flute” and Adina in “The Elixir of Love”.

Following her brilliant debut at the Metropolitan Opera as Musetta in “La Bohème”, the soprano has returned regularly to New York, most recently as Susanna in “The Marriage of Figaro” and Liu in “Turandot”.

Kulchynska has performed on other major stages, including the Arena di Verona, Opéra de Lausanne, Opéra National de Paris, Opéra de Rouen, Opera Bastille in Paris, and Opera di Roma. She also took part in Marina Abramović’s production of “The 7 Deaths of Maria Callas” at the Royal Theater Carré in Amsterdam.

Olga Kulchynska studied theory at the Reinhold Glière Kyiv Institute of Music, then continued her studies as a singer at the Ukrainian National Academy of Music. In addition to winning the first place at the Viñas Competition, Olga Kulchynska has won numerous international vocal competitions, including Plácido Domingo’s Operalia Competition and the Mykola Lysenko International Music Competition in Kyiv.
