How to search for music internships and grants, prepare a successful application, and find resources that really work for performers – pianist, researcher, and curator Daria Maksymova will tell you all about it.

During the meeting, Daria will share her experience of interning at the Metropolitan Opera (USA) and participating in the Erasmus+ program, as well as talk about current international opportunities for musicians.

Together, we will discuss how to take the first steps toward the international stage, where to seek support, and how to turn grant applications into real trips, concerts, and new professional connections.

Daria Maksymova is a pianist, researcher, and curator of music projects. She combines performing practice with analytical and educational activities, promoting Ukrainian academic music in an international context.

Born in 2001 in Kharkiv, she received her primary musical education at the Music School # 13 named after Mykola Kolyada. In 2016–2020, she studied at the Borys Liatoshinskyi Music College in Kharkiv. Since 2020, she has been a student at the Ukrainian National Academy of Music (class of Professor Oleh Bezborodko).

In 2024, Daria received a scholarship for young artists from the President of Ukraine. She has participated in several international programs and internships, including the Erasmus+ student exchange at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Vigo (Spain) in piano and an internship at The Metropolitan Opera (USA), where she worked with management and creative teams in project coordination.

Since 2019, Daria Maksymova has been combining performing, research, and curatorial activities. She initiates and promotes projects dedicated to academic composers and performers, including lectures, concerts, and residencies in Ukraine and abroad. As an author and publicist, she writes about contemporary music for Ukrainian media.

In her practice, Daria combines an interest in new academic music, Ukrainian cultural history, and interdisciplinary formats. She has participated in international festivals, research and academic-creative projects, and has presented contemporary Ukrainian music on stages in Ukraine, Spain, Italy, and the United States.

In her lecture Behind the scenes of performance: internships, scholarships, and international opportunities, Daria shares practical advice on how young artists can find and seize international opportunities, prepare for internships and grant programs, and turn global experience into a tool for their own professional growth.

VERE MUSIC HUB This is an artistic ecosystem – a space for young musicians and listeners created by the VERE MUSIC FUND. It consists of an upper hall with 100 seats for concerts, recordings, master classes, lectures, etc. and a lower rehearsal hall. The venue is located at 21/8 Malopidvalna Street, Kyiv.

VERE MUSIC FUND A charitable fund established in 2017 by Tetiana Verevska. The Fund provides grants to Ukrainian musicians to participate in international competitions and master classes, and implements festival projects and educational initiatives. It also supports international music competitions in Ukraine.
