The competition is open to all, without distinction of nationality, and has four age categories.
The “Rencontres Internationales pour Jeunes Pianistes” aim at getting young people from all horizons and qualifications to meet each other through musical performance, but also getting them to meet international teachers and jury members, during the free master classes that are given during the competition.
Concerts are organized after the competition, to allow these young players to perform in front of an audience which is necessary to acquire stage experience and to better know and master themselves. These concerts are for all laureates, not only pre-professional pianists, since musical practice is known to be a learning experience of high quality.
The “R.I.J.P.” also promote musical works of our composers, since a work by a Belgian composer of the XXth or XXIst century, written for the piano, is mandatory for the 18-24 years category. Contact EPTA-Belgium W-B if you need help finding a score.

The 15th “Rencontres Internationales des Jeunes Pianistes” will take place between 3 and 8 March, 2020, in Grez-Doiceau (Belgium).

Rules
- The 15th edition of the “Rencontres Internationales des Jeunes Pianistes” is intended to young pianists of all nationalities. Deadline for applications: 10th January, 2020.
- The competition has four categories:
- CAT. 1: born after 1st April, 2009
- CAT. 2: born after 1st April, 2005
- CAT. 3: born after 1st April, 2001
- CAT. 4: born after 1st April, 1995
- The program has to be played by memory.
- The program for the final may eventually contain ONE piece played for the selection.
- No changes of listed program is allowed after 30th January, 2020.
- Each category has maximum three awards.
- The jury reserves the right to award ex aequo prizes.
- The jury reserves the right not to award any prizes.
- Prize winners are obliged to perform at the prize winners concert. This without any fee.
- Candidates in final will receive a certificate of participation.
- A First Prize winner is not allowed to compete again in the same category.
- The decisions of the jury are final
- Prizewinners are allowed to mention the competition on their CV.
- EPTA-BELGIUM reserves all the rights for radio and TV broadcasts, DVD and live-stream without compensation for the participants.
- Travel expenses, boarding and lodging are to be supported by the candidate.
- Application fee is not reimbursable.
- EPTA-BELGIUM reserves the rights to any change of rules for the benefit of the competition.
- In case of disagreement the French text only is valid.
- EPTA-BELGIUM W-B is not responsible in case of accidents during the competitions
- The candidate must have a health insurance valid in Belgium.
