The Third “Glowing Harp” International Harp Competition is open to harpists of all countries and nationalities.
It will take place between 19 – 24 April 2021 in Kharkiv, Ukraine.
Application Procedure
The deadline for applications is 15.03.2021. To register, please use the online form or send the application form (download application form) and all required documents to glowingharp@gmail.com. Please also use this email address to request bank account details for the entry fee.
List of required documents for registration:
- completed application form (online form or application form)
- CV
- a recommendation letter from your most recent teacher
- two different photos (jpg)
- copy of passport / birth certificate
- entry fee payment confirmation (cat.Debut – 20 EUR, I cat. – 40 EUR, II cat. – 60 EUR, III cat. – 80 EUR, IV cat. – 100 EUR)
- two copies of your competition repertoire (to be provided prior to the start of the competition)
Age Categories
- category “Debut”: up to age 8
- І category: up to 11
- ІІ category: up to 14
- ІІІ category: up to 18
- IV category: up to 25
You can apply for any category in which your age does not exceed the category limit.

“Debut” Category: 8 years old and under (1 stage)
- 2-4 varying pieces including “Cuckoo and Woodpecker” by V.Tikhonova*

Category I: 11 and under (1 stage)
- 2-4 varying pieces including piece by V. Tikhonova* (choose one):

Category II: 14 and under (2 stages)
1st Stage (10-15 min total time)
- A composition of the Baroque or Classical period
- A virtuoso piece written in a period from Romantic to contemporary

Category III: 18 and under (2 stages)
1st Stage (15-20 min total time)
- A composition of Baroque or Classical period
- A virtuoso piece written in a period from Romantic to contemporary

2nd Stage (accompanied by chamber orchestra)

Category IV: 25 and under (2 stages)
1st Stage (20-30 min total time)
- A composition of Baroque or Classical period
- A virtuoso piece written in a period from Romantic to the beginning of XX century
- A contemporary piece written from the middle of XX century
- Special written piece by E.Andreev*

Rules and Conditions
- All works should be performed from memory, except for the specially written piece in category IV
- Programmes may not be changed after they have been submitted
- Performing order is free choice
- All stages are open to the public
- Photography (without flash and sound) is permitted
- The finals of categories ІІ, ІІІ and IV are with orchestra
- In categories II, III and IV, no more than five candidates per category shall pass to the final
- All potential contestants are eligible to apply for any category in which their age does not exceed the category limit
- For stage 1, the time limit in each category means total minutes of music
- All decisions of the Jury are final
- Harps (pedal and lever), and individual practice times are provided to active contestants. Participants may also use their personal instruments at their own liability and cost
- Each participant will have an opportunity to practice 1 hour on the harp he will choose after the registration in the order according to their audition schedule.
The shedule finalist will be provided after the I stage results in each category.
Practice time on the other harps will be provided from 18 April 2021 - Entry fee is not refundable
