Master class by Polina Sasko (piano)

The master class is held within the framework of the VERE MUSIC ACADEMY 2021 program.

Active participation is free of charge. Selection by videos. The video must be recorded after September 1, 2019. The application form in MS Excel file can be emailed until November 15 to academy@vere.fund. The application can be downloaded from the our website. Please attach your CV to the application in MS Word format. The number of participants that will take an active part in the master class will be determined by the teacher.

Was born in a family of musicians. From the early age she knew that music was her calling. In 2011 she graduated from Lysenko Secondary Special Music School in Kyiv with Iryna Barinova and Prof. Nataliia Tolpygo. Later Polina studied at the Ukrainian National Music Academy with Prof. Tetyana Roshchyna. Currently, she is a student at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz, Austria in the class of Prof. Dr. Milana Chernyavska.

Polina has received numerous prizes at the international piano competitions: Second Prize of the International Piano Competition “Windsor” (online edition, 2020); Second Prize of the V International Piano Competition “ClaMo” (Murcia, Spain, 2019); First Prize of the XXII International Piano Competition “Premio Mauro Paolo Monopoli” (Barletta, Italy, 2019); First prize and Audience Award of the IX International Piano Competition “Isidor Bajic Piano Memorial” (Novi Sad, Serbia, 2018); 1st Prize at the XXI Stefano Marizza International Piano Competition (Trieste, Italy) in 2017; 1st Prize at the 9th International Competition “Giovani Musicisti” Citta Di Treviso (Treviso, Italy) in 2017; 2nd Prize at XX San Sebastian City International Piano Competition (San Sebastian, Spain), 2017; 2nd Prize at International Piano Competition “Memorial Jurica Murai and Murai Grand Prix” (Varazdin, Croatia), 2017; Gold Prize at the Martha Debelli Scholarship Competition (Graz, Austria) in 2016; 1st Prize at the II International Danube Piano Competition (Ulm/Neu Ulm, Germany) in 2014; 3rd Prize at the XXIII “Roma” International Piano Competition (Rome, Italy) in 2013; 1st Prize at the 30th Smetana International Piano Competition (Pilsen, Czech Republic) in 2012; 3rd Prize at the 8th International Competition for Young Pianists in memory of Volodymyr Horowitz (Kyiv, Ukraine) in 2010.

Polina leads an active concert life. In March 2017 she made her brilliant debut in Stefaniensaal in Graz with Mozart Concerto No.12 in A Major KV414 under the guidance of Maestro Patrick Lange.

The pianist regularly performs at many famous festivals such as: VP Bank Classic Festival in Switzerland, Arsonore Festival in Austria, Olive Classic Festival in Croatia, Note d’arte Festival in Italy, Dabube Festival in Germany and others.

Polina has recorded piano pieces by Haydn, Beethoven, and Rachmaninov at the Ukrainian National Radio.

She participated in the international media project devoted to the anniversary of Bohuslav Martinu in Bratislava, Slovakia in 2008. Polina has recorded piano pieces by Haydn, Beethoven, and Rachmaninov at the Ukrainian National Radio.

She regularly participates in intensive weeks and activities of the International Music Academy in the Principality of Liechtenstein and receives a scholarship from the Academy. Also, she has received master classes from famous piano professors: Arie Vardi, Klaus Hellwig, Oxana Yablonskaya, Claudio Martinez Mener, Yuri Kot, Uta Weyand, Sofja Gulyak and Grigory Gruzman.

She is a truly versatile musician: she takes great joy in playing with singers. She studied under the guidance of such famous musicians as soprano Elena Pankratova and pianist Joseph Breinl. She regularly cooperates with Diana Adamyan (violin), Clara Shen (violin), Philip Shupelius (cello), Anna-Maria Paliy (soprano), Dmytro Choni (piano). In 2013 Polina took part in the international project of EMCY “Young heart for music tour” where she performed chamber music in collaboration with young talented musicians from Europe at different concert halls of Germany and Austria. The same year she participated in “Colluvio” Chamber music master classes in Austria, and after a deep work with renowned teachers, she performed at the concert tour with her trio across the six countries of Europe.

Polina has an extended solo and chamber repertoire which includes works from Baroque to the Contemporary period. In 2013 she performed a premiere of a piano cycle “Retroludies” composed by Ukrainian composer Svyatoslav Lunyov. She played works of Gennady Sasko, Oleg Bezborodko, Jean-Frédéric Neuburger, Hao-Fu Zhang, Mykhaylo Stepanenko. She has received a special prize for the best performance of the modern compulsory piece by András Gelléri at the 8th International Rosario Marciano Piano Competition (Vienna, Austria) in 2016.

VERE MUSIC ACADEMY is a permanent master class program from VERE MUSIC FUND. It helps open Ukrainian performers’ access to best educational practices that used to cost them a lot of time, effort and money. But now it is possible to get to master classes of world-famous teachers and musicians without leaving Ukraine. it is also absolutely free.

In addition, the VERE MUSIC ACADEMY program includes one-day master classes from well-known Ukrainian artists who have already received worldwide recognition. When they come to perform in Ukraine, they set aside one day in their schedule to work with Ukrainian students.

The project is implemented in cooperation with the UKR Artists agency.
