Bohdan Shalyha

Bohdan Shalyha was born in 1997 in Kyiv. From a young age he was fascinated by music and at the age of 4 he entered the Verykivskyi Children’s music school № 2. At the age of 9 he entered the Lysenko specialized boarding school in Kyiv, class of Olha Korinets, and later – class of Professor Yaroslava Rivnyak.

In 2014 he joined the Petro Tchaikovsky National Music Academy of Ukraine, continuing his studies with Professor Yaroslava Rivnyak. He received his bachelor’s degree in 2018.

During his studies, he constantly participated in national and international music competitions, such as: Eugen Coca International Competition – Second Prize (Chisinau, Moldova, 2007); Yevhen Stankovich Second International Competition – First Prize (Kyiv, Ukraine, 2013); III International Danube Instrumental Competition – Second Prize (Ulm, Germany, 2016); Bohodar Kotorovych All-Ukrainian Competition – First Prize (Kyiv, Ukraine, 2018); Rodolfo Lipizer Prize International Competition (Gorizia, Italy, 2019).

He has participated in Professor Boris Garlitsky’s master-classes in Berlin many times. In 2019 he was an active participant in the international project “LEAD – The Orchestra project”, conductor Yucca-Pecca Saraste.

He is currently a student at the Folkwang Universität der Künste in Essen, Germany, in the class of Professor Boris Garlitsky. VERE MUSIC FUND is supporting Bohdan Shalyha by proving him with a grant since 2019.
