Bohdan Shalyha was born on October 22, 1997 in Kyiv. From a young age he was fascinated by music and at the age of 4 he entered the Verykivskyi Children’s music school № 2. From that time he began participating in many music competitions, and at the age of 9 he entered the Lysenko Secondary specialized boarding school in Kyiv, class of Olha Korinets, and later Professor Yaroslav Rivnyak.
In 2014 he joined the Petro Tchaikovsky National Music Academy of Ukraine, continuing his studies with Professor Yaroslav Rivnyak. He received his bachelor’s degree in 2018.
During his studies, he constantly participated in All-Ukrainian and International competitions, such as: II Kyiv Festival “Golden Grains of Ukraine” – First Prize (2004); XXI Century Art International Competition, Vorzel City – First Prize (2005, 2008); Winner of the All-Ukrainian Competition “New Names of Ukraine” and the Culture Foundation of Ukraine (2005); Eugen Coca International Competition, Chisinau – Second Prize (2007); Khortytsia Chords International Festival Competition, Zaporizhzhia City – First Prize (2009); Diploma of the David Oystrakh International Violin Competition, Moscow (2010); Diploma of the Vladimir Spivakov International Charitable Foundation and winner of the VII International Festival “Moscow meets friends”, Moscow (2010);
Yevhen Stankovich Second International Competition – First Prize (2013); Participant of the Talents of the Nation project (2014); III International Danube Instrumental Competition “Ulm, Germany – Second Prize (2016); III All-Ukrainian Violin Competition”, Lviv – First Prize (2017); Bohodar Kotorovych All-Ukrainian Competition, Kyiv – First Prize (2018); ProArt-2018 International Competition, Khmelnitsky City – First Prize (2018); Rodolfo Lipizer Prize International Competition, Gorizia, Italy (2019).
He has participated in Professor Boris Garlitsky’s masterclasses in Berlin many times. In 2019 he wasan active participant in the international project “LEAD – The Orchestra project”, conductor Yucca-Pecca Saraste.
He is currently a student at the Folkwang Universität der Künste in Essen, Germany, in the class of Professor Boris Garlitsky. VERE MUSIC FUND is supporting Bohdan Shaliha by proving him with a grant.
