Oleksandra Khmara will give a concert at the opening of the Odesa International Violin Competition

On May 7, our violinist Oleksandra Khmara will give a concert at the opening of the Odesa International Violin Competition. The concert will take place at 7 pm, immediately after the opening ceremony and the draw in the Great Hall of the Odesa Music Academy. This event symbolizes the long-term partnership of the competition with VERE MUSIC FUND, which provides a special prize to one of the Ukrainian participants – a grant to participate in an international competition or master class.

Oleksandra was the winner of the first Odesa International Violin Competition, which took place in 2018.

In 2021, the competition collected 65 applications from 24 countries. In the first round, 24 violinists will meet in Odesa, including five Ukrainian musicians – Bohdan Shalyha, Dmytro Udovychenko, Yakov Pavlenko, Oksana Butrynska and Sofia Yakovenko.

This year’s jury included well-known Ukrainian and foreign performers: Valery Sokolov (chairman of the jury), Alyssa Margulis, Andriy Murza, Daniil Austrikh, Oleksiy Semenenko, David Wong, Andriy Belov, Diana Tishchenko, conductor Hobart Earl and the outstanding documentary director Bruno Montsenjon.

The special guest of the competition will be the famous Ukrainian conductor Oksana Lyniv.
