Our pianist Roman Lopatynskyi is the winner of the first prize of the George Enescu International Competition 2024!!!!!!
He also received a special prize – the Radu Lupu Award for the best interpretation of a work by George Enescu.
This was the first time that the flag of Ukraine appeared next to the name of the winner of the main piano prize of the competition. The previous competition in 2022 was also won by a Ukrainian, Oleksandra Segal. But she represented Israel in this competition.
As for the violin competition, our musicians have made their mark long ago: Valerii Sokolov won the first prize of the George Enescu International Competition in 2005. And in 2018, Orest Smovzh received a special prize, which, along with the first three prizes, is listed on the competition’s website and is part of its history.
