Roman Lopatynskyi showed a passion for the piano from an early age. He won his first piano competition at the age of eight.
He is a prizewinner of many international piano competitions, including the George Enescu International Competition (Romania), the Santa Cecília International Piano Competition (Portugal), the Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition (Israel), the Vladimir Horowitz International Competition for Young Pianists (Ukraine), the Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition (Italy), the Hamamatsu International Piano Competition (Japan), and the Maria Canals International Music Competition (Spain).
Roman has performed at many well-known international music festivals, including MITO (Turin), the Newport Music Festival (Newport), the Animato Festival (Paris), the Heidelberger Frühling Festival (Heidelberg), and the Musikverein (Vienna).
He has performed with many leading orchestras in Ukraine and abroad, including the philharmonic orchestras of Kyiv, Lviv, Odesa, Dnipro, and Kharkiv, the Saarbrücken Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Nagoya Philharmonic Orchestra.
Today, Roman performs regularly in Ukraine, Israel, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, France, Japan, and the United States.
He is a co-founder and a regular member of the NotaBene Chamber Group.
Since 2022, he has been a soloist of the National House of Music of Ukraine.
Since 2025, he has been a soloist of the National Philharmonic of Ukraine.
In 2024, he received a PhD in Musical Arts.
Roman is currently studying at the International Piano Academy in Imola (Italy) with Professor Borys Petrushansky.
Since 2017, he has received grant support from VERE MUSIC FUND.
