Musician and teacher focused on modern music and the promotion of new Ukrainian music, especially written for his instrument – double bass.
He was born into a musical family. His first instrument was violin, and after seven years of training Nazariy began to master the double bass at the Ternopil Music School in the class of Vasyl Felenchak. In 2010-2015 he received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from the Tchaikovsky National Academy of Music, studying in the class of Oleksandr Melnyk. He also completed an internship there.
Nazariy received his first professional contract with the Galician Chamber Orchestra at the age of 16. At the age of 20, he won a competition for the soloist-instrumentalist position in the Kyiv Chamber. And at the age of 26 he began teaching in the class of double bass and chamber ensemble at the National Academy of Music of Ukraine.
In 2018, the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine awarded the musician the Levko Revutsky Prize for concert performances with contemporary Ukrainian music.
Nazariy took master classes from a number of famous double bass players such as Nicholas Cross, Chi-Chi Nvanoku, Jeff Bredetic, Leon Bosch, Ruslan Lutsyk, Dan Steff, and Hiroshi Ikematsu. He was the first performer of concerts for double bass with the orchestra by Zoltan Almashi, Alice Zaika, Marison Borges, Alexander Levkovich, Julia Monducci, Edward Kravchuk, and Sergei Pilyutikov.
His concert geography includes more than 20 countries with solo, chamber and orchestral performances at the festivals “Manifesto”, “Gogolfest”, “Two Days and Two Nights”, Britten-Pears young artist program, “Warsaw Autumn”, Septembre musical and more.
He has collaborated with the Ulysses ensemble, Salzburg Sinfonietta, Ensemble Nostri Temporis, Sed Contra, New Era orchestra, Kyiv Kamerata, UKHO-ensemble and many other groups.
Since 2018 he has been receiving grant support from the VERE MUSIC FUND.
