Roman Kholmatov

He was born in 1994 in Kherson in the family of the musicians. He began learning to play violin at the age of 4. When he turned 8 Roman won The Beethoven’s National Competition (Kharkiv, Ukraine). At age of 11, he played his first solo concert. In 2010 Roman entered Mykola Lysenko Secondary Specialized Music School of Kyiv. In 2012 Roman entered The Tchaikovsky National Music Academy of Ukraine (class of Serhiy Shott).

Currently Roman studying with Prof. Zakhar Bron in Escuela Superior de Musica Reina Sofia (Madrid, Spain). He receiving the scholarship from Albeniz Foundation and grant support from VERE MUSIC FUND from 2019.

During his studies at the music school Roman became the laureate of regional, national and international competitions. While studying at the Academy, he takes part in many concerts as a soloist. In 2013 Roman Kholmatov became the finalist and the special prize winner on the 1st Oleh Krysa International Violin Competition (Lviv). In July 2018 Roman won 3rd Prize at the Eugene Ysaye International Violin Competition (Belgium). In November 2018 Roman won 1st Prize at the V Mirecourt International Violin Competition (France) and Prix des eleves de l’ecole de luthiere. In November 2019 got 2nd Prize in the 5th Vasco Abadjiev International Violin Competition (Sofia, Bulgaria).

Roman Kholmatov currently performs on the 1807 “Mon Senior” Joseph Klotz violin.
