Varvara Vasylieva was born in 2003 in Kyiv. At the age of four she started playing the violin. She studied at the Mykola Lysenko Secondary Specialized Music School in the class of Yaroslava Rivnyak and Vadym Borysov and later for two years at the National Music Academy of Ukraine.
Now she is continuing her studies with Professor Barbara Doll at the Hochschule für Musik FHNW in Basel, Switzerland.
Varvara is a winner of many international competitions and a participant of leading music festivals in Ukraine and abroad. Among her musical achievements: Ysaye International Music Competition (2019, Belgium) – First Prize; Odesa International Violin Competition (2018, Ukraine) – Third Prize; III All-Ukrainian Violin Competition (2017, Ukraine) – First Prize; IX International Violin Contest (2013, Belgium) – First Prize;
She has participated in music festivals in Austria, Georgia, Israel, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland and Switzerland.
Varvara has performed at such festivals as Beethovenfest Bonn, Fiskars Summer Festival, Young Euro Classic, International Festival “Stars of the Future”, X International Youth Music Festival Competition, Bouquet Kyiv Stage, and Book Arsenal. She is active as soloist and chamber musician.
Since 2017 she has been a member of the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine (YSOU).
Varvara participates in master classes of such famous violinists as Oleh Kaskiv, Oleksander Brusylovskyi, Borys Garlytskyi, Borys Kushnir, Valeriy Sokolov, Oleksiy Semenenko.
Since 2019 she receives grant support from the VERE MUSIC FUND.
