Varvara Vasylieva was born in 2003 in Kyiv. At the age of four she started playing the violin.
She is currently studying at the Mykola Lysenko Secondary Specialized Music Boarding School in the class of Olha Rivnyak.
Varvara is a winner of many international competitions and a participant in leading music festivals in Ukraine and abroad. Among her musical achievements:
Ysaye International Music Competition (Liege, Belgium, July 2019) – First Prize; Odessa International Violin Competition (Odessa, Ukraine, June 2018) – Third Prize; III All-Ukrainian Violin Competition (Lviv, Ukraine, 2017) – First Prize; IX International Violin Contest "Bravo!" (Namur, Belgium, 2013) – First Prize;
Participation in the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine project, performances at festivals in Lviv, Berlin, Graz, Bayreuth, CD recording in Kyiv; Solo performances in Kyiv, Lviv, Sumy and Cherkasy Philharmonics; Participation in the projects ”Witness” (dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the tragedy in Babyn Yar), ”Hop, Nederland, Hop” (2016);
Varvara was a participant in the Stars of the Future festival (Tbilisi, Georgia, 2014); X International Youth Music Festival Competition (Germany, July 2013).
As part of chamber ensembles: Performances in Israel (Jerusalem, Beit Shemesh, 2019), Performances at the festivals in Poland (Lodz, 2018; Pabianice, 2015), Povzun All-Ukrainian competition of chamber ensembles (Odessa, March, 2018) – First Prize.
Varvara participates in master classes of such famous violinists such as Oleh Kaskiv, Oleksander Brusylovskyi and Borys Garlytskyi.
From 2019 she receives grant support from the Vere Music Fund.
