Dmytro Choni

As a winner of numerous international piano competitions, Dmytro Choni already gained an international reputation as a concert pianist. Winner of the Paloma O’Shea Santander International Piano Competition Gold Medal (Spain, 2018). He is the laureate of prestigious competitions, such as: Vendome Prize at the Verbier Festival (Switzerland, 2019), Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition (Italy, 2017), International Piano Competition in Memory of Vladimir Horowitz (Ukraine, 2017), Suzhou International Piano Competition (China, 2017), San Marino International Piano Competition (San Marino, 2016) as well as: 1st Prize and the Audience Prize at the International Piano Competition ZF-Musikpreis (Germany, 2018), First Prize at the Los Angeles International Piano Competition (USA, 2018), 1st Prize at the Roma International Piano Competition (Italy, 2017), First Prize at the San Sebastian City International Piano Competition (Spain, 2017), First Prize at the Tucumán International Piano Competition (Argentina, 2016), First Prize at the International Piano Competition “Stefano Marizza” (Italy, 2016),  In 2017 Dmytro has received the “Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli Prize” – an award given to him by the Piano Academy Eppan (Italy).

Dmytro has performed at Kissinger Sommer Festival in Germany, Verbier Festival in Switzerland, Dubrovnik Summer Festival in Croatia, Granada Festival in Spain, Stars and Rising Stars in Germany, Festival Internacional Cervantino in Mexico, Santander International Festival in Spain, and VP Bank Classic Festival in Switzerland. Dmytro was also the main guest soloist of the Olive Classic Festival in Croatia.

Performances at Wigmore Hall in London, Salle Cortot in Paris, Minato Mirai Hall in Yokohama and Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires were particularly important in the musician’s career.

As a soloist, Dmytro Choni performed with prestigious Orchestras, such as the Republic of San Marino Symphony Orchestra, conductor Francesco Ommassini, the Suzhou Symphony Orchestra, conductor Alain Paris, the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, conductors Volodymyr Sirenko and Vitaliy Protasov, the Tambov Philharmonic Orchestra, conductor Mikhail Leontyev, and the Varazdin Chamber Orchestra.
Dmytro Choni was born in Kyiv, Ukraine in 1993. He received his first piano lesson at the age of four from Galina Zaslavets. He studied in Kyiv with Nina Naiditch and Prof. Yuri Kot. Currently, he is a student at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz in the class of Prof. Dr. Milana Chernyavska.

Dmytro is a scholar and a frequent participant in the International Music Academy in Liechtenstein. Since 2017 he has been receiving grant support from VERE MUSIC FUND.
