Antonii Baryshevskyi was born in Kyiv, Ukraine, in 1988. He began playing the piano at the age of seven. During his early studies at Children’s Music School No. 14 named after Yurii Shchurovskyi, he studied with Alina Sorkina and Ryta Donskaya.
After graduating from the Lysenko Specialized Secondary Music School in Kyiv in 2007, he entered the National Music Academy of Ukraine, where he earned a Master’s degree and completed postgraduate studies in the class of Professor Valerii Kozlov. He later graduated from the École Normale de Musique de Paris “Alfred Cortot”, where he studied with Professor Marian Rybicki.
He has participated in masterclasses with Alfred Brendel, Daniel Pollack, Richard Goode, Lily Dorfman, and others.
Antonii Baryshevskyi is a laureate of numerous international piano competitions, including: First Prize at the Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition (Tel Aviv, 2014); Second Prize at the Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition (Bolzano, 2011); First Prize at the International Piano Competition “Jaén” (2009); First Prize at the ISAM Piano Competition (Germany, 2006); and Second Prize at the Horowitz International Piano Competition (Kyiv, 2005).
In 2006, he participated in the Euro Radio Youth Concert in Munich.
He has appeared at major international festivals such as Klavier-Festival Ruhr, Progetto Martha Argerich (Lugano), Busoni Festival (Bolzano), MDR Musicsommer (Eisenach), Musica Insieme Fondazione (Bologna and Varignana), as well as Peace and Piano Festival (Seoul), Chautauqua Festival (USA), Copenhagen Summer Festival, Wonderfeel Festival, and Minimal Music Festival (Netherlands), among others.
Baryshevskyi performs regularly as a soloist and with orchestras in Ukraine and internationally. He has collaborated with leading ensembles including the Munich Radio Orchestra, the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, Filarmonica Arturo Toscanini, the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, the Heidelberg Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Orquesta Ciudad de Granada.
He has performed under the baton of Asher Fisch, Frédéric Chaslin, Howard Griffiths, Douglas Bostock, Gerd Albrecht, Roman Kofman, Marcus Bosch, Oksana Lyniv, Andrey Boreyko, Kirill Karabits, and others.
He has toured extensively across Europe, as well as in Israel, Japan, South Korea, and the United States.
His performances have taken place at major venues including the Concertgebouw and Muziekgebouw (Amsterdam), Konzerthaus Berlin, Berliner Philharmonie, Kölner Philharmonie, Wigmore Hall (London), Musikverein (Vienna), Arnold Schönberg Center, Teatro Comunale di Bologna, among others.
Baryshevskyi has made recordings for radio and television in Ukraine, Denmark, Spain, Italy, Germany, Slovakia, and Serbia. His debut album “Antonii Baryshevskyi: Piano Recital” was released on the Naxos label. His subsequent recordings include works by Lili Boulanger, Johannes Brahms, Josef Rheinberger, Sigfrid Karg-Elert (якщо треба уточнимо), as well as contemporary composers such as Sviatoslav Lunyov and Maxim Shalygin (album “To All Alive”, 2025).
He is also active as an educator, giving masterclasses internationally, and serves as a guest professor at the Davidsbündler Music Academy (Netherlands) and the International Summer Academy of Music in Ochsenhausen (Germany).
